Three Weekend Getaways Around Sydney

Itching for an escape from the big city?

The great thing about Sydney is that in every direction, there is a getaway within driving distance. Best of all, there’s something for everyone, from wine lovers to nature lovers to golfers. Let’s have a look at some of your options.

Hunter Region
From the picturesque coastline of Newcastle to the lush vineyards of the Hunter Valley Wine country, the Hunter Region truly is the perfect escape from the big city life. Just 160km out of Sydney, this region boasts some of the best wine to come out of New South Wales.
Begin your trip by taking one of our chauffeured cars to Pokolbin, the epicenter of Hunter Valley Wine Country. Spend a day riding around and sampling the wines from the numerous wineries in the region.

When you’ve had your fill of wine, you can book a scenic cruise on the Hunter River or Lake Macquarie. If golf is more to your liking, there are several golf clubs to choose from.

Before heading back to the hustle and bustle of the big city, stop off in Newcastle for a relaxing day at the beach.

Jervis Bay
Did you know the whitest sand in the world can be found just 200km south of Sydney in Jervis Bay? Apart from the spectacular aesthetics of its white sand beaches against the turquoise waters, Jervis Bay is the perfect destination for sea-lovers. Fishing, scuba diving and whale watching are among the many water-based activities available at Jervis Bay.

Break up your ride down to Jervis with a pit stop in the quaint village of Berry where you can view a number of historical buildings listed on the New South Wales Heritage Register. Because of its unique charm and rural feel, you might never want to leave. Many city-dwellers have relocated to Berry in search of a rural lifestyle.

Blue Mountains
If you don’t want to stray too far from the city, the Blue Mountains is your choice. Although it is only 50km from Sydney, you’ll feel miles away. With 10K square kilometers of wilderness, and sitting 1 kilometer above sea level, the air is crisp and clean in the Blue Mountains (a World Heritage listed site).

Let one of our drivers make the climb to Katoomba, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and some brunch on the main drag, and then head over to the Three Sisters Lookout for a view of the iconic geographic formation.

If you’re feeling up to it, you can take a gondola ride over the gorge – a spectacular vantage point from which to view wide expanse of wilderness that comprises the Blue Mountains. When you are finished, ride over to Leura, a miniature and classier version of Katoomba, for some dinner and some wine.

If you need to get away from the city, you can’t go wrong with any of these options. If you book with us, one of our booking managers will work with you to create the perfect itinerary for your getaway, and one of our friendly, professional and knowledgeable drivers will do the rest. All you need to do is relax and enjoy the trip!
